Six new websites and applications for the photographer

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Snapizzi is an automated photography work-flow system using QR codes.  It looks like an interesting option for photographers in need of keeping photographs of people organized.

Bannka is a Twitter like social application for photographs.  Share your images in the Bannka photo-stream.

Youroldpic.com – Make your new photograph look like an old photograph.

Path.com is a social application you can use to share photographs with your closest friends (limited to 50 friends).

Photomica.com – Create special effects using your photographs.

stippleit.com helps photographers create interactive photographs. Place multiple tags on your image to add more information about the photograph. This would be a good retail application worthy of consideration.

What new applications and websites have you discovered?

The Joy of Marketing 2011

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

You may have seen a few Tweets about the Joy of Marketing event announcement. The online events start in late December.  They have a great line up of experts sharing excellent information for wedding, portrait and family photographers.

My presentation (free) on social media will be January 12th 1PM CST.  More important are the other topics and speakers such as branding with Sarah Petty, December 29th, boudoir photography with Kay Eskridge January 5th and search engine optimization (SEO) with Erin Verbeck January 19th.

There are eleven experts total sharing basic and advanced information over four Wednesdays.  You can find more information here – The Joy of Marketing (tracking link).

The eleven hours of information is free – you just need to register.  These are no sales pitches, but each speaker will offer a product at the end of their presentation.  I created cool downloadable audio and PDF package for the listeners.

Let me know if you sign up.

Have you updated your LinkedIn company page?

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

LinkedIn has upgraded its company page platform; it’s worth your time to review it.

When it comes to Web marketing, it’s important to seize every opportunity to improve search engine optimization.

LinkedIn has given us the opportunity to list our companies, display our individual products and services, add links, and encourage endorsements from the social community.

As you can see in the screenshot below, each company now has an overview page, job postings, products and services display and analytics to study what is working.

One of the advantages of the LinkedIn company profile is that it is designed for business. The ability to share multiple products and links to landing pages is powerful. Of course, all this opportunity comes with the option to purchase additional promotion.

LinkedIn’s options remind me of the Google Places sign-up.  Descriptions of your products, photographs, and videos are all available to add dimension to you brand.

Take a few moments to register or up date your company profile.
