Ask your photographer friend a question on facebook

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

Question-and-answer sites are hot right now.  Quora is an excellent example.

Today, Facebook released its version of a question-and-answer service.  You will not find it on your personal page — yet — but you can find the new release at www.facebook.com/questions.

Why are question services important?

Social media (in the networking model) is about helping others and becoming an expert in your field.  Answering questions about photography will help promote you as an expert.  Answering your friends’ questions, the people who already know and like you, is an even better way to strengthen your relationships.

One nice element of the new service is the ability to create polls.  Whether you are using it for business or trying to figure out where to go on vacation, crowdsourcing your friends may be more reliable than the opinions of strangers.

What do you think?
