Make Your Goals Happen In 2021
We have a fresh start, 2021 is here.
So far the photography business has picked up for me. I’m feeling good about the pent up demand headed our way. Creatives be ready!
With that said, we can’t just let 2021 happen to us. We need direction. Setting goals is a good way to keep your focus.
When you set goals you can backward engineer how to make them become a reality. You can plan the actions required to move your creative business forward.
Below is this weeks Creative Entrepreneur podcast about setting goals (link here).
If you are looking for more ideas to help you set goals, check out this week’s video on the topic.

I prefer to focus on three goals each year. Too many goals tend to muddy the waters. I also like to set up three tasks for each day or week which leads to accomplishing my goals.
One goal is fine, but what happens when you accomplish it? I believe you should have goals after your goals so you don’t crash and burn after your great achievement.
It’s common for people to work to achieve their goals and then feel lost because they don’t know what to do next. Don’t let that happen to you.
Too many goals become overwhelming. I’ve found when I have too many goals I really don’t know where to start, so I don’t. The big long list of goals fulfilling all my biggest personal and business dreams goes to waste.
However, there is nothing wrong with having a long bucket list of 50 or 100 things you want to do or achieve in life. Still, I recommend you only focus on 1-3 of those each year. Possibly, make one of your annual three goals an item from your bucket list.
I think it’s also important to understand, that sometimes we spend our year setting ourselves up for success, yet, the actual completion of the goal may not happen until the next year.
Are Goals Right For You?
There are many opinions about goals. Should you have them? Are you setting yourself up for disappointment?
If you take the attitude that goals are a guide in life. They are there to serve you. You can change, pivot, add or drop goals without regret as life and business changes.
The thing that many people seem to miss is that even if you don’t achieve the big goal. Chances are you achieved many smaller yet valuable goals during the process.
These smaller goals create a life full of experiences and achievements. Make note of them, appreciate each win, big or small, and have a great 2021!
