Rosh Card Example - YouTubeHow important is YouTube?

We all have a story to tell.

How do we share our stories with target customers and the world is a common question small business owners face. Developing a marketing plan is an important first step in the process and video is a key element of any modern story telling plan. This is why small business owners must embrace YouTube as a powerful answer. Since the first video upload on April 23, 2005, YouTube has become a goto destination for information. Did you know YouTube is the number two search engine online? Second only to its owner Google. This is  a big reason why I recommend you grow your Youtube channel.

YouTube offers more than just the ability to upload your video and hope for the best. It has a range of options and tools that support your efforts.

Start with a strong headline

Just like this blog post, you need to capture people’s attention. Statements of fact are generally not the answer. You need to capture viewers attention quickly as they scan webpages and social media feeds. Ask a question, make bold statement and share how to. When it comes to YouTube don’t be shy about writing a long description and add as many relevant tags as possible.

4 More Powerful YouTube Tips

  • Create custom thumbnails. As important as headlines are to search; thumbnails attract attention. Many people click on a video based the image they see representing the video. I’ve done it and I’m sure you have too.
  • Use the new YouTube cards. They are a great way to capture people’s attention. You can generate a call to action, such as, directing people to your website for more information.
  • Review your YouTube Analytics to see how long people are actually watching your videos. This will help you make better videos.
  • Did you know you can add a watermark to your videos for branding purposes? It’s a good idea. You will find this option in the creator studio under Channel.

YouTube is continuously improving. If you have not visited your channel recently, I urge you to take a look around and the review the updates.
