Don’t make this mistake on YouTube

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Every Saturday I look for a video to share.

I find a lot of  inspirational and educational videos on YouTube, but I cannot share them on other websites because they are locked.

Why?

I’m sure there are many corporate reasons, backed up with sound corporate speak for locking video content. (My hands are over my ears and I’m singing  la la la.) I don’t want to hear it.

My suspicion is that these people don’t understand social media. If you display a video on YouTube and lock it down, you are limiting opportunity for this video to be viewed and shared.

Granted, there are scenarios where it is beneficial to lock a video on a specific website. But, in such cases,YouTube is the wrong platform.

Don’t lock your stuff.  Give social media the opportunity to share the good news about your company, events, abilities or message.

Share.

Jason Fried Interview: Rework

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

Jason Fried is the co-founder of 37 signals and co-author of the book REWORK. I’m reading REWORK and believe many of the ideas in the book are useful for photography business owners.

I’ve reviewed a few Jason Fried video interviews. I looked for a short interview, with good information, to share with the new media photographer community. Below is an interview from the people at fbadz.com.

The book is full of anti business as usually ideas. If you find their  business ideas interesting – I encourage you to look up more videos on YouTube and read the book.

You may not agree with everything, but these guys will make you think.
